The North Anna nuclear plant sits in the Central Virginia Seismic Zone, an area that sits to the west of Richmond. The Richter scale uses Arabic numerals, while Mercalli levels are typically described using Roman numerals, with I corresponding to imperceptible events up to XII for total destruction.
