Such tools are used to investigate movement patterns in healthy, aging, and pathological populations. The study of biomechanics is a unique intersection of biology, physiology, anatomy, physics, mathematics, and chemistry to solve difficult problems in medicine and health. This program is an excellent choice for students planning to continue their education in professional schools for physical or occupational therapy, or medicine and other science-based programs. The 120-hour curriculum is composed of two key components:Related coursework should provide students a strong and broad base from which to choose a more specific masters or doctoral program such as Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, and Motor Control, etc.Admission requirements for the B.S. The Biomechanical Engineering major provides a fundamental understanding of mechanics in fields of biology and medicine. Grades of C- or better in the core courses are required to remain in good standing with the College of Education. The Minor in Biomechanics is designed to offer a formal Biomechanics course load to students interested in applying their primary discipline to Biomechanics and movement sciences.

Students can also apply with master's degrees from other universities.Students interested in a career oriented toward biomechanical research and clinical medicine can pursue the combined PhD/MD degree program. The PhD degree is administered by the Department of Mechanical Engineering or the Department of Bioengineering. Most biomechanics jobs require a minimum of a master's degree, while some need a doctoral degree. The advising office is located in 207 H&K and the office is open Monday-Friday 8 A.M. - 5 P.M. During peak registration times be prepared to schedule appointments at least three (3) days in advance. The University of Nebraska does not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, and/or political affiliation in its programs, activities, or employment.

M.S.

Individuals who want to work in biomechanics first study and receive training while in college at most levels. The Biomechanical Engineering major provides a fundamental understanding of mechanics in... Master's Degree (MSME or MSBioE or MSE:BME).

Degree Types: Bachelor of Science (default) or Bachelor of Arts (alternative) Biomechanics is a 2.6 or four-year degree program that focuses on anatomy and human movement. We offer one of the few programs in the country where students can receive an undergraduate education in biomechanics, offering a Bachelor of Science in Biomechanics and Minor in Biomechanics.

With clinical biomechanics, the entire gait pattern of a patient who has difficulty walking is examined.

Different types of healthy and pathological movement patterns may be examined such as balance and locomotion with special emphasis on their development, control, and learning. Biomechanists work in collecting and analyzing biological and movement-related data, examine the efficacy of drugs that affect movement, and generate biotechnologies that improve functionality and monitor mobility. Course work in biomechanics, statistics, research methods, and motor control form the basis of the formal training, with students also expected to complete a research project summarized in a thesis.

Biomechanics is the study of movement in biological systems, including human beings.
