Sir Wilfull, a nephew of Lady Wishfort's, comes to town before departing to go abroad, and Lady Wishfort desires for him, though a bumbling man, to marry Ms. Millamant. Lady Wishfort later gets a letter telling her about the Sir Rowland plot. Station I Jesus is condemned to death Mirabell tells Fainall about his love of Millamant and is encouraged to marry her. The Way of the World is a play written by the English playwright William Congreve.It premiered in early March 1700 in the theatre in Lincoln's Inn Fields in London.It is widely regarded as one of the best Restoration comedies and is still occasionally performed. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before. The scheme proceeds as planned until Ms. Marwood, who unrequitedly desires Mirabell, overhears the plot when Foible fills in Lady Wishfort's daughter, Mrs. Fainall. Fainall attempts to use Lady Wishfort and her daughter's precarious social situation as leverage to gain Ms. Millamant's inheritance and all of Lady Wishfort's money through control of his wife's inheritance. Once Fainall and Ms. Marwood leave, Ms. Millamant rescinds her offer to Sir Wilfull and she and Mirabell receive Lady Wishfort's blessing for marriage, her reputation having been saved by the two lovers. These papers were written primarily by students and provide critical analysis of the play The Way of the World by William Congreve.
Sir Rowland is, however, Waitwell in disguise, and the plan is to entangle Lady Wishfort in a marriage which cannot go ahead, because it would be bigamy, not to mention a social disgrace (Waitwell is only a serving man, Lady Wishfort an aristocrat). It will discuss the way Buddhists perceive the world, the four main teachings of the Buddha, the Buddhist view of the self, the relationship between this self and the various ways in which it responds to the world… Fainall appears and accuses Mrs. Marwood (with whom he is having an Acts 3, 4 and 5 are all set in the home of Lady Wishfort. By Act 5, Lady Wishfort has found out the plot, and Fainall has had Waitwell arrested. A footman comes and tells Mirabell that Waitwell (Mirabell's male servant) and Foible (Lady Wishfort's female servant) were married that morning. Later, Mrs. Fainall discusses this plan with Foible, but this is overheard by Mrs. Marwood. The situation comes to a head when Lady Wishfort, while visiting with "Sir Rowland," receives a letter from Ms. Marwood revealing Mirabell's scheme. Mirabell will offer to help her out of the embarrassing situation if she consents to his marriage. The new American world order was the natural consequence of the US being the richest country (it then had 80% of the world’s gold stock and gold was then money), the dominant economic power (it then accounted for about half of world production), and the strongest military power (it then had a monopoly on nuclear weapons and the strongest conventional forces). Waitwell pretends to be Sir Rowland and, on Mirabell's command, tries to trick Lady Wishfort into a false engagement.
Act 1 is set in a chocolate house where Mirabell and Fainall have just finished playing cards. Mirabell leaves as Lady Wishfort arrives, and she lets it be known that she wants Millamant to marry her nephew, Sir Wilfull Witwoud, who has just arrived from the countryside. Mirabell finally proposes to Millamant and, with Mrs. Fainall's encouragement (almost consent, as Millamant knows of their previous relations), Millamant accepts.
Lady Wishfort appears with Mrs. Marwood, whom she thanks for unveiling the plot.
